Finlock Lock Development to Production and Approval to British Standards
AMTLS developed the Finlock from a concept and basic prototype to production and approval to British Standards BS362: 2017, Thief Resistant Locks and BS EN 12209: Mechanical Locks and Latches.
The concept arose due to many houses in London having to retain their traditional timber front doors due to conservation zones. Most door are fitted with a BS3621 approved mortice deadlock but householders are not locking this when they leave the property allowing thieves the easy task of breaking in through a Yale type lock.
The Finfort concept was inspired by the operation of the Ingersoll SC71 Cylinder Rim Automatic Deadlock. The auxiliary bolt is depressed by contact with the strike plate to shoot the deadbolt into the bolt hole automatically deadlocking a door without the need for a key. One may think it necessary to use two keys simultaneously to unlock the Fin lock and a night latch but the unique operation of the Finfort lock retains the deadbolt in the unlocked state until the mechanism is reset by opening the door allowing separate operation of each lock, as can be seen in the video.
